PREP ROUNDUP : Grant Leads Sea Kings in Water Polo

Crosby Grant scored three goals to help give No. 1-ranked Corona del Mar a 10-5 victory over Foothill in a nonleague water polo game Friday at Corona del Mar.

James Palda had two goals and goalkeeper Greg Sawyer had 12 saves for the Sea Kings. David Hay scored two goals for visiting Foothill (0-2).

In other nonleague water polo games:

El Dorado 14, Western 13 (OT)--Jason Fried scored five goals to lead El Dorado (3-0). Rick Roseli and Chris Cradduck had four goals each for Western (1-2).

Bolsa Grande 9, Santa Ana 8 (2 OT)--Dimitri Korionoff scored five goals, including the winning goal in sudden-death overtime to lead Bolsa Grande (1-2). Jerry Alonso had seven goals for Santa Ana (0-2).

In the Millikan Tournament:

Long Beach Wilson 7, Capistrano Valley 6 (OT)--Pat Cochran scored three goals for Long Beach Wilson and Jake Yakota scored three for Capistrano Valley.

Irvine 8, Trabuco Hills 4--Scott Gibson scored three goals to help Irvine (4-0) advance to the semifinals at Belmont Plaza. Brian Martz had two goals and Jarrod Gatske six saves to lead Trabuco Hills.

Edison 8, Santa Barbara San Marcos 7 (OT)--Rob Ciborowski scored the tying and winning goals to lead Edison (3-1). Cory Tague also had four goals for the Chargers.

In pool play at the Riverside Poly water polo tournament:

Servite 8, Costa Mesa 7 (OT)--Brian Heifferon scored a sudden-death goal to lead Servite (3-0). Sam Grayeli had five goals for Costa Mesa (2-1).

In nonleague girls’ tennis:

Woodbridge 17, Estancia 1--Freshman No. 1 singles player Natalie Exon swept her sets for Woodbridge, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0. Teammate and No. 2 player Alyssa Artunian also swept, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0. Woodbridge is undefeated at 4-0. Estancia is 2-1.

Mater Dei 14, Huntington Beach 4--Laura Ruben won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, for visiting Mater Dei (4-0).

Santa Ana Valley 12, Century 6--Nhuy Huynh swept at No. 2 singles for Santa Ana Valley, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.

Santa Margarita 12, Katella 6--No. 1 doubles team of Megan Scanlon and Anna-Marie Scutetta won their sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-0. Santa Margarita is 2-1.

El Toro 11, Laguna Hills 7--Kate Kunath and Janaye Johnson swept in singles to lead the Chargers (1-2) to a victory at El Toro.

In nonleague girls’ volleyball:

Orange Lutheran 3, Anaheim 0--Kristin Weddick had 13 kills to lead Orange Lutheran over Anaheim, 15-10, 15-8, 15-10.

Liberty Christian 3, Claremont 0--Sophomore Lynlee Vaccaro had six kills and 13 aces for undefeated Liberty Christian which won, 15-10, 15-2, 15-3. Setter Sara Anderson had seven aces and 11 assists for Liberty Christian (3-0).

St. Margaret’s 3, North Hollywood Campbell Hall 2--Monica Giarard had 23 kills for visiting St. Margaret’s, which defeated Campbell Hall, 15-8, 11-15, 14-16, 15-7, 15-4.
