GETTING TICKED OFF: Spring forward, fall back. That’s how you remember how to turn your clocks and watches back an hour before going to bed tonight. How many would that be, seven, eight? What if you had to turn four thousand watches back an hour? Tourneau’s, a watch and clock store in South Coast Plaza, insists that all its timepieces have the same time--the correct time. It’s taking its staff two full days to turn the 4,000-plus watches and clocks back an hour. Goodby, daylight savings time.

TUNA A LA CARTE? The luxurious Ritz-Carlton hotel in Dana Point has a strict policy against animals on the premises. But fire from nearby Laguna Beach put the rules on hold. Scores of Laguna Beach residents descended on the hotel for shelter. And a lot of them brought their pets. “I’ve seen everything in the lobby from Rottweilers and cats to rabbits and goldfish,” says hotel spokesman Geoff Young. . . . The hotel has shown its flexibility: It’s added dog and cat food to its room service menu.

FANNING THE FLAMES: For nearly a decade, Orange County has been the Halloween home of the rock group Oingo Boingo. Which is why the band members want to do something special for this week’s fire victims. . . . They let the Red Cross set up a booth at their Irvine Meadows concert Friday night--and again tonight--so fans can donate to the fire cause. The band members have already made their own donation too.
