GARDEN GROVE — Keuni Faamausili scored two first-half touchdowns and Los Amigos went on to beat Garden Grove, 27-3, Thursday night in a Garden Grove League game.
Faamausili, who gained only 16 yards in eight carries for the Lobos, scored in the second quarter on runs of three and two yards.
Garden Grove (2-7, 2-4) appeared up to the Lobos’ challenge early, marching 43 yards in eight plays on its first possession, to set up a 32-yard field goal by senior Mark Hastings. But that was all the scoring the Lobos would allow.
Los Amigos (8-1, 5-1) ended any chance for the hosts early in the second half when senior John McMills streaked past the defense and caught a 52-yard touchdown pass from Ape Tuato 61 seconds into the third quarter.
The Lobos’ ensuing possession was even quicker, as Tuato connected with McMills at the Argonaut 14-yard line, then McMills pitched to Sauaga Leofa, who caught he ball without breaking stride and coasted cleanly into the end zone with 4:58 remaining in the third quarter.
“We didn’t change anything at halftime,” Los Amigos Coach Steve Bolton said. “We just went over our blocking schemes again and made sure that people were blocking the right people.”
