When Cypress starting running back Bobby Brito aggravated an ankle injury and left the game in the first quarter Thursday against Katella, Cleave stepped in and was rarely stopped. He carried 12 times for 296 yards--an average of 24.7 per carry--and four touchdowns. His final score came on a 43-yard run with a minute left in the game to give Cypress a 34-34 tie. He also scored on runs of 63, 77 and 75 yards. Cleave, who is a sprinter for Cypress’ track and field team, is playing his first season of football at the school.

* Moukda Choulamany, Rancho Alamitos, rushed for 210 yards and a touchdown in a 27-6 victory over La Quinta.

* Mike Good, Los Alamitos, passed for 234 yards and one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns in a 49-0 victory over Esperanza.

* Robert Hudson, Calvary Chapel, rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-13 victory over Brethren Christian.

* Cubby Kelly, Sonora, gained 268 all-purpose yards and made 10 tackles to help Sonora to a 21-20 victory over Sunny Hills.
