ROUNDUP : Saugus Rallies for Volleyball Playoff Victory

Saugus High overcame a two-game deficit and upset No. 3-seeded San Luis Obispo, 15-10, 7-15, 9-15, 15-10, 15-11, Tuesday in a Southern Section Division III quarterfinal-round volleyball playoff match.

Amy Gillis led the Centurions (12-2) with 20 kills. Lindsay Estes had 15 kills, Cindy Luby added 12 and Laura Wagoner had 64 assists.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Harvard-Westlake 11, Upland 7--The top-seeded Wolverines got a scare from host Upland and needed a strong performance from their No. 1 doubles team to win the match in a Division III quarterfinal. Julie Green and Karyn Koven were the only players to win all three sets for Harvard-Westlake (20-3).

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Glendale 68, Rio Hondo 61--The Vaqueros trailed, 10-2, to open the game but led by five at halftime.

The Vaqueros (2-0) stayed in front with sophomores Ryan Asplund (11 points, five assists), James Parker (10 points) and Nick Athanassakis (six points, eight rebounds) carrying the load. Rio Hondo fell to 0-2.
