OUTLOOK

The defending league champions have some big shoes to fill. Chris St. Clair, a first-team all-county player now at Cal State Fullerton, and all-league performers Peter Lythgoe and Chris Campbell, have graduated. Fister is the team’s best all-around player, leading the Raiders in scoring during 40 summer league games. “He’s as good as anyone in our league,” Murphy said. Hernandez returns at point guard after averaging six points and two assists, and Murphy says the junior can compete with the best point guards in the county. Mirth will start at off guard after playing 13 games on the varsity as a freshman. Clark, a 7-foot junior, “will be the most highly recruited player in the county next season,” Murphy said. “He had games of 25 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks during the summer, but he also had games with three points, two rebounds, no blocks and five fouls. He has a lot to learn.” Downs, the MVP on last season’s freshman team, Mitchellson and Alaama will vie for the final starting spot.
