Brethren Christian’s Stump, Washington, Davis Rush Past Rosamond

ARTESIA — Brethren Christian, behind the running of Mark Stump, Keith Washington and Reggie Davis, beat Rosamond, 34-6, Friday night at Artesia High in the first round of the Southern Section Division X playoffs.
Stump paced the Warriors (9-2) with 119 yards in 12 carries. Washington also had 12 carries for 114 yards. Davis added 69 yards in 13 carries.
Brethren Christian, which will play the winner of the Cathedral City-Los Angeles Murphy game, rushed for 308 yards, but it was the defense that got the Warriors started.
Davis, on the game’s third play, returned a Rosamond pass 40 yards for a score.
Brethren Christian intercepted four passes, with Ryan Babcock getting two and Michael Harriman the other two.
Washington gave Brethren Christian a 14-0 first-quarter lead when he scored from three yards. The touchdown culminated a nine-play, 89-yard drive.
Harriman set up the next score with a 31-yard interception return to the Rosamond 14.
Matt Greenwood eventually scored from the one to make it 21-0.
Rosamond (4-7) scored with 23 seconds remaining in the first half when Chris Duckworth caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Jamar Day.
Brethren Christian increased its lead to 28-6, when Andy Brown returned a fumble 37 yards for a score.
