Simi High Takes 5th Place Kiwanis Game

R. J. Pierson scored 25 points off the bench to lead the Simi Valley High basketball team to a 94-46 victory against Southwest Monday in the fifth-place game of the Kiwanis Tournament at Serra High in San Diego.
Vernon Simmons scored 15 and grabbed 13 rebounds and Stuart Clarke scored 18 and grabbed 10 rebounds for Simi Valley (7-2).
In other boys’ basketball games:
El Camino Real 74, Hamilton 63--Charles Adams scored 26 points to lead the Conquistadores (3-3) at the Van Nuys tournament.
Reseda 45, Van Nuys 24--Senior forward Roderick Jones was the only player to reach double figures in the Van Nuys tournament game. Jones, a transfer from Chatsworth, had a game-high 17 points and 16 rebounds for Reseda (7-0).
Notre Dame 75, South Pasadena 58--Andy Waldrip dished out 11 assists to lead the Knights (5-3) to the co-consolation championship with Hoover, which beat Moorpark, 62-50, of the La Canada tournament.
