The Clippers are sponsoring a free-throw shooting event at halftime of their game Thursday against the Phoenix Suns. Ten shooters each will attempt five free throws with proceeds from each shot made going to a fund to help defray medical costs.

Flowers lost both legs as the result of injuries sustained in a car accident in August, 1992, only a few days before he was scheduled to leave his family’s home in Glendale, Ariz., and begin attending classes at Northridge.

A free-throw fund-raiser at halftime of a Northridge basketball game last March raised more than $15,000.
