Kevin Carlson and his younger brother, Brian, made oral commitments to play basketball at Southern California College, Vanguard Coach Bill Reynolds said Monday.

Kevin, a 6-foot-5 forward, was a two-time All-Orange Empire Conference selection for Fullerton College. He averaged 14 points as a sophomore and 17 points as a freshman, finishing with 1,044 points, ninth best in Fullerton history.

Brian, who will finish his freshman year at Cal State Fullerton this spring, was a walk-on but did not play. He averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds as a senior at Katella High in 1992-93.

“I feel both can come in and play immediately,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds said the Carlsons also plan to continue their track and field careers as high jumpers at SCC.

The Carlsons join former Orange County high school standouts Chris Kostoff of Capistrano Valley and Chauncey Woolridge of Santa Ana, who also made oral commitments to SCC.
