* Today’s pairings (at Studio City Raquet Center): Woodland Hills Taft (14-0), last year’s Division 4-A runner-up, takes on University (15-0), at 2 p.m. Van Nuys (13-1), last year’s 3-A runner-up, plays Bell (16-0) in the other championship match.

* Last year’s finish: Led by No. 1 singles player Rafael Huerta, Chatsworth defeated Taft, 19 1/2-10, for the 4-A title, while Marshall won its third consecutive 3-A title by defeating Van Nuys 18 1/2-11.

* Outlook: University sends a senior-dominated team against a Taft squad without any seniors playing singles. Taft’s top two singles players are sophomore Dylan Mann and freshman Golan Sassoon. “Mann is probably the best singles player in the city,” said Tom Anderson, University’s coach. University, which won the 4-A title in 1992, is led by No 1 singles player Jay Jackson. In the 3-A final, Van Nuys is led by No. 1 singles player Steve Park, who transferred from Granada Hills this year. Bell has won 85 of 91 individual matches this season and is led by No. 1 player Jose Cardenas and the No. 1 doubles team of Jose Ruiz and Oscar De La Rosa.
