SOUTHERN SECTION BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Jordan Pitches Whittier Christian Into Next Round

Lance Jordan struck out 15 in six innings, including the side in the third, fourth and sixth innings, and allowed two hits and no runs to lead host Whittier Christian to a 3-1 victory over Lancaster Paraclete Tuesday in a second-round Division V baseball game.

Jordan is 8-2. Ed Zieman had two hits and a stolen base and Matt Alcala added two hits, one run batted in and a stolen base for Whittier Christian (17-8), which won for the 15th time in 17 games. The Heralds will play at Big Bear in Friday’s quarterfinals.

In another Division V game:

Calvary Chapel 4, L.A. Baptist 0--Alex Okland was two for three and had two RBIs for Calvary Chapel (18-8).

Ryan Blood was two for three for the Eagles, who will play the winner of the Oak Park-Cambria Coast Union game at Calvary Chapel.

In Division VI:

St. Margaret’s 4, Carpinteria Cate 1--Pitcher Bobby Masters had a double and an RBI for visiting St. Margaret’s. Masters, who pitched a complete game, had a four-hitter and struck out six. Matt Crary also had an RBI for St. Margaret’s and stole home. St. Margaret’s (19-1) will play Downey Calvary Chapel.
