Redfern, 40, the City Section player of the year at Sylmar High in 1972, pitched seven years for the Minnesota Twins before a diving accident in October, 1983, left him paralyzed from the neck down. Redfern compiled a 43-48 record in the majors.

Redfern attended USC from 1972-75 on a baseball scholarship and played on two national championship teams. He has spent the past four years coaching at Chatsworth and the past five years as American Legion coach.
