THOUSAND OAKS : Little League All-Stars Go for the State Title

Share

The Thousand Oaks Little League all-star team of 9- and 10-year-olds could become state champions tonight if they win a baseball game against a team of all-stars from Lakewood.

Thousand Oaks is undefeated in this section of the tournament and will have two chances to win the state championship, said manager Daniel Catalano.

Even if they lose tonight, the Thousand Oaks team will again play Lakewood--which already has a loss in this section of play--on Thursday, Catalano said. Thousand Oaks beat Lakewood, 6-4, last Tuesday, Catalano said.

“We definitely have an advantage not having a loss,” Catalano said Monday. “But Lakewood’s a real good team, and the boys are going to have to play a real good defense and play their best game.”

The Thousand Oaks 13-year-old all-stars are already knocking on the door of the Little League World Series, standing just two wins away from a series slot after defeating a team from Pearl City, Hawaii, 4-1, in San Jose on Sunday.
