OUTLOOK

On the surface, it looks like a rebuilding year for the Cougars. Lots of holes being filled with inexperienced players, some up from a 7-3 freshman team. But if not dominant, the Cougars will at least be dangerous. MacKenzie makes Patton bubble with enthusiasm. MacKenzie is big, strong and fast, three things coaches tend to like in a tailback. All he lacks is varsity experience. He has a big offensive line to run behind, led by Honeycutt, who was underrated last season. Purvis is a solid tight end. The defense has more questions. Grigas is the only returning starter. He’s good, but he can’t be everywhere.
