ROUNDUP : Gallegos’ Goals Lead CLU, 5-1

Jill Gallegos scored three goals to lead Cal Lutheran to a 5-1 women’s soccer victory over La Verne in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday at Thousand Oaks.

Cal Lutheran (2-1), which has gone 12-0 in each of the past three SCIAC seasons, took a 2-0 lead on Gallegos’ first goal in the 10th minute.

Gallegos added goals in the 32nd and 58th minutes.

The Regals outshot La Verne, 27-7. La Verne dropped to 1-2-1.

MEN’S SOCCER

Cal State Dominguez Hills 2, Cal Lutheran 1--Radim Konechy chipped the game-winning goal over the head of goalie Ryan Kaufman in the 88th minute, giving host Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-1) a nonconference victory.

Grady Brahy’s goal in the 68th minute was only the third of the season for the Kingsmen (0-4).

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Campbell Hall d. Viewpoint, 15-11, 15-10, 13-15, 15-6--Casey Ragland had 13 kills and Danika Hendrickson had 20 assists to lead the Vikings (1-1).

Elena Dubinski had 11 aces, including eight in a row in the first game.

Channel Islands d. Santa Clara, 3-15, 15-1, 6-15, 15-3, 15-13--Sophomore Judy Tuimoloau served two consecutive aces to close out the match and give Channel Islands (1-2) its first victory in a year.

Senior Maria Gonzalez had 12 kills and 20 digs. Sophomore Diana Gonzalez, Maria’s sister, had 27 assists.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Agoura 13, Burbank 5--The Chargers (2-0) lost only one set in doubles, receiving strong play from the No. 1 team of Sabrina Lundquist and Lalit Hadari (6-2, 6-2, 6-1 winners in their three sets) and the No. 2 team of senior Ann Gustafson and sophomore Jennifer Donohue (6-2, 6-1, 6-0) in a nonleague victory.

Senior Analisa Swan (a 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 winner) was the lone bright spot for Burbank (2-1).
