In another Sunset League girls’ meet:

Fountain Valley 18, Huntington Beach 37--Angie Winkler (18:58), Becca Armour (19:06) and Andrea Craddick (19:13) swept the first three places for Fountain Valley (1-0).

In a Century League girls’ meet:

Villa Park 28, Canyon 28--For only the second time in 19 years, the Spartans defeated host Canyon. Villa Park won because of a faster sixth runner. Villa Park junior Allison Bunton finished first in 20:16.

In nonleague girls’ meets:

Brethren Christian 27, Bellflower 29--Lisa Herbst was second in 23:18 for Brethren Christian (1-0). Troy 25, El Dorado 32--El Dorado’s Mara Caplas won in 20:30. Sophomore Angela Grey finished third in 22:04 for Troy.

In a Century League boys’ meet:

Orange 15, Foothill 49--Mike Avellan, Victor Aranda and Glen Busch tied for first place in 16:53 for No. 8 Orange.

In the Sunset League:

Huntington Beach 21, Fountain Valley 34--Tony Trueba finished first in 15:34 for Huntington Beach.

In nonleague:

Fullerton 15, Whittier La Serna 50--Ian McCann won in 19:41 for Fullerton.
