Xanthos, 73, who compiled a 548-103 record and won conference championships in 23 of 29 seasons at Pierce, has spent much of his career teaching the sport to players and other coaches worldwide. Earlier this year, the Woodland Hills resident was the first junior college coach inducted into the NCAA Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame.
