OUTLOOK
The Warriors are very young, but Harris says they are talented. “They just need time to learn the game,” she said. Harris knew the situation coming in last season. “We were basically just trying to survive.” Harris, who teaches freshman English, went to work recruiting on campus and her lineup this year includes eight sophomores; four are returning starters. Mendoza, who didn’t play last season because of a broken wrist, is the only upperclassman and should earn a starting position early. Harris is optimistic about her team’s future, although she knows this season is just a starting point. “Next year we could do some damage.” If she can keep this roster together for three years, Harris could have a league champion.
