OUTLOOK

The Heralds are coming off a league championship season and are favored to battle with Calvary Chapel for the title again this season. Three major contributors from last season return to start for Whittier Christian. Ream and Berry will provide a difficult matchup problem for opposing teams, Brown said, as both can post up at the same time. And if teams try to sag in the middle, Berry and Smith each can hit the three-point shot with accuracy. Berry was a first-team All-Olympic League selection last season, averaging 9.2 points, and Ream made the second team with a six-point average. Zieman, who was an honorable mention selection, is the third returning starter and averaged 6.3 points. The Heralds have two transfers in Walsh and McCleary. Oronoz also will get playing time, but beyond that Whittier Christian has a short bench. The up-tempo style of play the Heralds use could take a toll on the starters by the fourth quarter.
