Coach: Phyllis Scarborough (fourth year).

1993-94: 20-6-4, 6-2-2 in the Empire League; lost to Torrance Bishop Montgomery, 1-0, in the Division II title game.

Key returners: Tina Brescini, defender, Jr.; Jami Bumstead, midfielder, Sr.; Kim Gallo, forward, So.; Chris Gehrls, goalkeeper, Sr.; Amy Harris, defender, Sr.; Tammy Lyon, forward, Sr.; Irene Morales, midfielder, Sr.; Kerry Murray, midfielder, Sr.; Jenny Parkison, defender, Sr.

Key newcomer: Heather Mears, forward, So.

Outlook: The Aztecs gave up only 16 goals last season with 17 shutouts, but because almost the entire defense graduated, Scarborough is making changes. Parkison, the leading scorer last season, and Brescini, another offensive threat, have been moved to fullback. Murray, a two-year starter who sat out last season because of a knee injury, returns in the midfield, and Scarborough is confident about the Aztecs’ chances despite their move to the Sunset League. “Even though we’ll be playing tougher teams, I think we’ll do well this season because we have changed our style a little bit,” she said.
