GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Trabuco Hills Manages to Rally, Overtake Capistrano Valley

Trabuco Hills played well in the fourth quarter to pull away from Capistrano Valley, 53-39, Friday in one semifinal of the Bolsa Grande tournament.

The Mustangs led by five after three quarters, but outscored Capistrano Valley, 20-11, in the fourth quarter. LaShieka Henderson led Trabuco Hills (7-2) with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Dyanna Hatch added 11.

Trabuco Hills plays Montebello Cantwell in the championship game at 7 p.m. Capistrano Valley plays Westminster for third place at 5:30 p.m.

In consolation round:

San Clemente 58, Tustin 52--Emily Ela scored 18 points to lead San Clemente in consolation action. The Tritons (4-5) will play Magnolia at 4 p.m. today for fifth place. Katie Scheuerman scored 26 points for Tustin (5-5).

In the Orange Lutheran Pride Invitational:

Orange Lutheran 51, Riverside Woodcrest Christian 36--Orange Lutheran’s Liz Pappas led with eight points. Orange Lutheran (4-2) will take on Whittier Christian for the tournament championship at 8:30 tonight. Shannon Hanks scored 12 points for Woodcrest Christian (5-3), which will take on Century at 6:30 p.m. for third place.

Whittier Christian 56, Century 40--Alana Kempton had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Faye Tsiramanes had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Kristi Ralston had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Whittier Christian (6-2) in one semifinal. Addy and Nina Alexander each had 11 points for Century (5-2).

Liberty Christian 26, Connelly 20--Lisa Winters scored eight of her 12 points in the fourth quarter for Liberty Christian (5-2), which shutout Connelly, 10-0, in the fourth quarter for the consolation win. Georgina Cervantes led Connelly (1-4) with eight points.

In the Valley Christian Tournament:

Los Alamitos 43, Lakewood Mayfair 23--Sarah Nunley and Jessica Peterson each scored eight points for Los Alamitos (4-3).

In nonleague games:

Sonora 58, City of Industry Workman 31--Aiyanna Nash scored 22 points and had five assists to lead Sonora (2-4). Kristi DeOliva had 14 rebounds and Mary Rubio had nine rebounds for the Raiders.

Orange 48, Anaheim 38--Charlene Conley had 17 points and 18 rebounds to lead Orange (3-5), which led, 25-15, at the half.

Capistrano Valley Christian 63, Southern California Christian 15--Jessica Olivier had 19 points and 18 rebounds and Danielle Pierce added 13 points for Capistrano Valley Christian (4-4), which led, 34-1, at the half.
