HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Alemany Loses Lead and Game, 64-63

Alemany High could not hold a 13-point halftime lead and lost to Trinity (Ohio), 64-63, in the championship game of the Surf ‘N’ Slam girls’ basketball tournament at La Jolla on Friday.

Trinity, trailing, 63-59, with 33 seconds left, got a 22-foot, three-point shot from sophomore Semeka Randall to pull within one, then went on to win on Randall’s fast-break layup after forcing an Alemany turnover at half court. Randall finished with 26 points.

Alemany’s Samantha Rigley, who scored 20 points and had six assists, missed a layup in the final seconds.

“It was the best game I’ve ever been involved in,” Alemany Coach Melissa Hearlihy said. “It was amazing. (Trinity) is easily one of the best teams in the country. We must of shot 80% in the first half.”

Chrissy Falcone had 15 points for the Trojans (5-0). Kelly McKay had 18 for Alemany (9-2).

Buena 75, Olympic 20--Kori Sebek scored 18 points as the Bulldogs rolled in the consolation championship of the La Jolla tournament. Eboni Conley and Nicole Greathouse each added 14 points for Buena (4-2).

Littlerock 72, Highland 31--Guard Kristen Phillips scored 26 of her 32 points in the first half for the Lobos (8-4) in the consolation championship of the Serrano tournament. Jasmine Vaula scored 14 points for Highland (2-5).

North Hollywood 75, Burroughs 66--North Hollywood guard Anna Celaya scored 26 points to lead the Huskies (9-2) to the Bell-Jeff tournament championship. Stephanie Wasserman added 17.

BOYS

Crescenta Valley 64, El Dorado 42--Brock Jacobsen scored 17 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and won most valuable player honors as undefeated Crescenta Valley cruised past El Dorado in the final game of the Anaheim Canyon Hills tournament.
