Greg Minor
SCHOOL: Canyon
SPORT: Basketball
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Minor figured to be one of the area’s best guards--and he has not disappointed. The 6-foot-2 1/2 senior averages 29 points per game and has been a leading assist man for the Cowboys (7-5) despite playing with injuries. He opened the season as Canyon’s all-time leading scorer with 1,138 points.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Although slowed by a sprained ankle and an strained groin, Minor led Canyon to its first championship game of the Hart tournament last week. Minor scored 120 points in four games. He had 38 in a 69-66 first-round upset over Antelope Valley, including the game-winning three pointer at the buzzer. He scored 38 again in an 89-65 rout of Venice, and 25 in a 54-52 semifinal victory over Hart while missing most of the third quarter. In a 57-55 loss to Simi Valley (11-1) in the championship game, Minor scored 19.
