Schatz OKd to Take the Plunge for Buena

Junior Erin Schatz, one of the top high-school swimmers in the area, was cleared to compete for Buena High for the spring season, Coach John Siman said.

Schatz transferred from Agoura to Buena, Southern Section Division I girls’ champion, at the beginning of the school year but had to wait until last week for clearance.

Schatz said the delay was caused because she lives with an aunt in Ventura instead of her parents, who still live in Agoura.

“I feel like we’ve been blessed,” Siman said. “Now we’ve got a chance to be even better than last year.”

Schatz was second in the 100-yard backstroke and fourth in the 200-yard individual medley in the Division I championships last year.
