No. 1 Santa Ana Mater Dei 64, No. 13 Glendora 42--Despite being outrebounded, Mater Dei took advantage of a 17-5 run in the second quarter en route to an easy victory in a I-A game at UC Irvine. Shaun Jackson led the Monarchs (31-1) with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

No. 8 La Puente Nogales 93, Corona 63--William Porter scored 29 points to lead the Nobles (26-3) to a I-A victory over the Panthers (25-4) at Norco High.

No. 9 Lakewood Artesia 80, Redondo 75--Phil Wilson and John Nelson scored 17 points each to lead the Pioneers (25-3) to a III-AA victory at North Torrance High. Doug Francis led Redondo (21-6) with a game-high 24 points.

No. 11 Harvard-Westlake 60, Duarte 53--Jason Collins, who collected 24 points and 13 rebounds, made four of six free throws in the fourth quarter to lead Harvard-Westlake (26-2) over Duarte (23-5) in a III-A game at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame High.

Long Beach Poly 58, Los Alamitos 48--Damion Dawson and Mike McDonald each scored 16 points to lead the top-seeded Jackrabbits (20-9) to a I-AA victory over the Griffins (22-8) at The Pyramid at Long Beach.

GIRLS

No. 3 Ventura Buena 59, No. 12 Chino 34--Buena (23-2) led, 16-5, after one quarter, then opened it up to 29-12 at the half before coasting to a I-A victory over the Cowboys (24-5) at Ayala High.

With the victory, the Bulldogs secured their sixth-consecutive trip to a Southern Section final.

No. 5 Brea Olinda 79, Huntington Beach Edison 63--Lee Moulin scored 27 points to lead the Wildcats (27-2) to a II-A victory over the Chargers (19-7) at Valencia High.
