HIGH SCHOOL BOYS’ BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS

Pasadena Poly 59, Van Nuys Montclair Prep 53--Pasadena Poly (25-2) recovered from a 10-point first-half deficit to defeat Montclair Prep (24-5) in the Southern Section Division V-AA championship game at Master’s College.

The title was the first for Poly since 1984.

Pasadena Poly’s comeback was greatly helped by a 28-1 free-throw advantage. Panther forward Scott Reeder, a 6-foot-4, 230-pounder, used his bulk to position himself for 12 points and 16 rebounds.
