Los Angeles Harbor College withstood a late rally and defeated the College of San Mateo, 71-66, to win the California Community College women’s basketball title before 1,100 at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.
The Seahawks, who overcame the dismissal of their coach and the defection of almost half of their 15-member roster in December, won their second consecutive title.
Rayjanette Lampkin of the Seahawks was named the most valuable player of the tournament.
