Key newcomers: Casey Brewer, 5-10, outside hitter, Jr.; Marc Gerow, 6-0, outside hitter, Jr.; Jeff Hardin, 6-0, middle blocker, Jr.; Jacob Huggins, 5-8, setter, Jr.

Outlook: The Barons return six starters who could challenge Huntington Beach for the Sunset League title. Although Arvesen is only 6 feet, he’s strong in the middle, giving the Barons a good tandem with first-team all-league selection Domingo. Also back are Myers, the team’s kill leader, Ratledge, another imposing force at the net, and Seckington, a second-team all-league setter. Said Biller: “It’s like night and day seeing the improvement from last year to this year.”
