Coach: Mark Nielsen (first year).
1994: 8-2, 6-1 in the Sunset League. Finished second to Los Alamitos in league finals but had an impressive showing at Division I finals.
Key returners: Robin Beauregard, So.; Jennifer Garcia (diver), So.; Emily Hager, Jr.; Joanne Jensen, Sr.; Stacy Keil, So.; Adrienne Leight, Jr.; Lori Martinez, So.; Alison Mijares, Sr.; Heather Noble, Jr.; Kristi Reitzel, Jr.; Donna Silva (diver), Sr.; Summer Sufficool, Sr.
Key newcomers: Jenny Lamb, Fr.; Stephanie Leonard, Fr.; Rebecca Miller, Fr.; Kristi Stone, Fr.; Heather Vaccaro, Fr.
Outlook: The Vikings, who have nearly all of their starters returning, will be led by Mijares, who is one of the county’s best in the middle-distance events and the 500-yard freestyle, and Joanne Jensen, who also is strong in the distance events. Most importantly though, is Marina’s strong group of incoming freshman who could help the Vikings to a lot of second- and third-place finishes, which, in the long run, wins close dual meets. Also, watch for some top diving performances from Sufficool.
