The Monarchs could have some trouble with inexperience as their roster will feature six freshmen. . . . Trabuco Hills returns five starters from a team that finished second in the Pacific Coast League, including the league's co-most valuable players, Ann-Marie Froysaa and Natalie Galasso. . . . Capistrano Valley returns nine players, including sophomore Rachel Forbes, who hit .672 and stole seven bases in four games before breaking her leg last season.

Highlights: El Toro lost to Fountain Valley, 2-1, in the second round of the playoffs. Mater Dei lost to Garden Grove, 5-4, and San Clemente lost to Kennedy, 3-1, in the first round.. . . Mater Dei's Candace Kollen hit .526 with 23 runs scored to earn league MVP honors. The Monarchs' Lisa Tully (.409), Margaret Hollis (.368) and Patty Godwin (.367) also ranked among the county leaders in batting average.
