Coaches: Erin Gallagher, Corona del Mar; Jim Daugherty, El Toro; Lisa Baker, Irvine; Mike Mullen, Newport Harbor; Jeff Nadeau, Santa Margarita; Alan Dugard, Woodbridge.
Facts and Figures: Woodbridge is expected to repeat as league champion. The Warriors return seven starters, led by senior shortstop Carrie Brown (.326) and sophomore third baseman Lizzie Lemire (.321). Senior Lisa Weaver returns after missing last season because of a knee injury. . . . Baker says a lack of power could hurt Irvine’s chances of keeping pace. Seniors Amy Young (0.89 ERA, 11 shutouts) and Shye Nakabayahi (.314) should help send the Vaqueros to the playoffs. . . . Santa Margarita loses five players from last year’s fourth-place team and will be bolstered by freshmen and sophomores.

Highlights: Irvine beat Costa Mesa, 5-0, in the opening round of the playoffs then lost to South Torrance, 2-0. Woodbridge got past Trabuco Hills, 5-2, before losing in 17 innings to Redondo, 1-0. . . . Woodbridge senior Alison Johnsen (.619) collected 52 hits to lead the county. . . . Irvine’s Natalie Tomoguchi (.360) and Aimee Young (16-6, 0.90 ERA) earned all-league honors.
