Baseball/Second base
Pickler, from Foothill High, faces two kinds of pressure this season and has handled both well. He is starting for Cypress, which won the State title last spring. Also, he is playing for his father, Cypress Coach Scott Pickler. He set a Cypress record for hits in a game last Thursday, with six singles in a 29-10 victory over Golden West. He finished the week eight for 16 and the Chargers won two of three games.
Baseball
Jose Gonzalez
* Saddleback, sophomore. He was six for seven, including a double and a home run, in two games.
Tennis
Michelle Turner
Golden West, Freshman
Turner, from Edison High, has been among the most consistent players for Golden West, which is ranked fourth in the State. Turner starts the week 12-0, 9-0 in Orange Empire Conference matches. She has not lost a set in conference and only 11 games in 18 sets. In a key match against second-place Orange Coast last week, Turner won, 6-0, 6-1, and the Rustlers won, 7-2. She is also 8-3 in doubles this spring.
Softball
Deborah Goddu
* Cypress, freshman. She won a 5-1 decision over Riverside and had two saves for the Chargers.
