ROUNDUP : Granzow Leads Faith Baptist Into Playoffs, 11-4

Judd Granzow hit a two-run home run and Tim Greer had two runs batted in for Faith Baptist High in an 11-4 victory over Campbell Hall in a Delphic League Saturday for third place and a playoff berth.

Jay Carpenter pitched a seven-hitter for the Contenders (14-9), who put the game away with seven runs in the second inning.

Campbell Hall ended its season with a 12-9 record.

Channel Islands 9, Oxnard 4--Carlos Morales struck out 10 in 4 2/3 innings and hit a three-run home run for the Raiders (10-17) in a Westside tournament consolation-bracket game that had been delayed by rain and schedule conflicts since March.

Adrian Carrillo had two hits and Gus Vasquez struck out seven in four innings for the Yellowjackets (6-18).

The game was the final sporting event at the site of old Oxnard High. A new school is scheduled to open in the fall.

Thacher 10, Midland 8--Brian Krumrei and Josh Zannon each had two hits and an RBI for the Toads (12-2, 10-0), who completed a perfect Condor League season.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Rancho Santiago 8, Antelope Valley 1--The Marauders were eliminated in the Southern California regional playoffs after beating Pasadena City, 5-1, and Mt. San Antonio, 3-1, earlier in the day.

Jody Snelling, Donna Villa and Cindy Sims each had two hits against Rancho Santiago (32-10), but it wasn’t enough to keep the Marauders (34-14) alive in the tournament.

Monica Dopson provided the winning margin against Mt. San Antonio (17-13) with a two-run home run in the third inning.

Snelling had three hits and Dopson added two in the Marauders’ victory over Pasadena City (16-19).

Chaffey 8, Moorpark 0--Charlene Raimondo pitched a two-hitter for Chaffey, eliminating the Raiders (20-15) from the Southern California regional playoffs.

Moorpark lost to Chaffey on Friday, but beat Pierce, 6-2, in the losers’ bracket earlier Saturday to earn another shot at Chaffey.

Pitcher Andy Dominguez, who got both decisions Saturday, had two hits against Pierce (21-17), which was eliminated. Jennifer Edwards also had two hits for Moorpark in the Pierce game.

In the second game, Chaffey (30-11) chipped away at the Raiders, scoring in every inning but the second.

Teka Clayton hit a solo home run for Chaffey in the fifth.
