SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : City Publishes Guide to Historic Buildings

Share

To make it easier for tourists and local visitors to find historic buildings, the city has published a brochure with a two-mile walking tour of historic San Juan Capistrano.

Recently installed pedestrian signs downtown complement the brochure, which highlights more than 200 years of local history and 25 sites listed on the city’s inventory of historic and cultural resources.

Merchants have welcomed the brochure, saying that it answers many of the questions that visitors have long asked of anyone who could provide directions.

The city and the Chamber of Commerce have also received requests from several schools and tour companies for the brochure.

The brochure was developed with assistance from the city’s Cultural Heritage Commission and former city historian Pamela Hallan-Gibson.

The walking tour project was spearheaded by Mayor Carolyn Nash and won unanimous backing of the City Council.
