Lister Named Moorpark Athletic Director

Dawn Lister has been hired as athletic director at Moorpark High. She replaces Richard Uphoff, who held the position for seven years before resigning in August.

Lister, 32, has been at the school for five years as a science teacher and activities director.

Tennis

Berths are still available in the St. John’s Regional Medical Center Tennis Classic on Monday at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.

Soccer

Josh Henderson, a former La Canada High standout and a freshman at Duke, was named Atlantic Coast Conference player of the week following a pair of Blue Devil victories last weekend.

Henderson had a goal and an assist in each match as Duke beat Creighton, 3-1, and Drake, 3-0.

Henderson was last season’s Southern Section Division IV player of the year and a member of The Times’ all-area team after scoring 41 goals and adding 33 assists.

La Canada won the Southern Section Division IV title and went 25-0.

Monica Gerardo, who played at Simi Valley High and was The Times’ 1994-95 area girls’ player of the year, is off to a fast start as a freshman at Notre Dame.

Gerardo, a starting forward, scored four goals and added an assist in two matches last weekend as the Irish opened their season and Big East Conference play with victories over Providence and St. John’s.

Notre Dame junior midfielder Cindy Daws, a former player at Louisville High and an All-American last season, did not play in either match due to a pulled leg muscle.

Brandt Marott’s goal in the 88th minute gave Cal State Northridge a 1-0 victory over Cal State Sacramento in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s match Monday at Northridge.

Marott, a senior midfielder, banged home the rebound of a shot by Keith West from 10 yards.

Goalie Zoltan Nagy made three saves for the Matadors (1-1), who had 26 shots to seven for the Hornets (0-2).

Jill Gallegos scored in the 61st minute to give Cal Lutheran a 1-0 women’s victory over San Francisco State on Monday.

Goalie Amy Walz stopped two shots for Cal Lutheran (1-0).

Cal State Northridge lost to Westmont College, 2-0, Monday in a nonconference women’s match at North Campus Stadium.

Heather Schou made five saves for the Matadors (1-1).

Cal Lutheran lost to Azusa Pacific, 2-1, in a nonconference men’s match Monday in Azusa.

Aluede Okokhere scored for the Kingsmen (0-3).
