1995 PREP PREVIEW: BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY : Six Teams to Watch : Capistrano Valley

Outlook: It’s hard to believe the Cougars’ team outlook would improve the year after the graduation of 1994 county champion Adalberto Sanchez, but it’s true. Transfers Greg and James Hunter were influential members of the Pennsylvania state champion Newtown Council Rock High cross-country team last season. Council Rock won the state title by 38 points and finished the season ranked 11th nationally by Harrier Magazine. Yamashita was 13th at the South Coast League finals last season and will be either the second or third man this fall, while Perez will assume a tougher role for the Cougars. “We’re stronger in spots two through five this year than we were last year,” Gross said.
