Kody Miller, for a moment, could feel the pain.

After a brief rest, Miller made some dazzling moves, and with the aid of Craig Scott and Troy Mills, helped Canyon beat Buena Park, 41-0, Friday night at Buena Park High School.

Miller had twisted his left ankle just before the first quarter ended.

“It kind of hurt,” he said.

On the third play of the second quarter, Miller caught a pass from Scott for a 25-yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead.

Canyon (1-1) increased its lead to 28-0, seven minutes later, when the two combined on a 30-yard touchdown pass. Miller showed some nifty moves.

Miller finished with three catches for 79 yards; Scott completed six of nine passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns.

Mills scored the first Canyon touchdown on an eight-yard pass from Scott. He also scored on a three-yard run.

Mills has four touchdowns in two games.

“We let down last week,” Miller said of the Comanches’ 21-14 loss to El Dorado. “We should have won.

“We should win the rest of our nonleague games. We then play Foothill. I’ve never been on a Canyon team that beat them.”
