Bakersfield 67, Pierce 20--The defensive woes continued for the Brahmas (1-5, 1-4, 0-1), who allowed 553 yards rushing and 680 yards in total offense in a North Division game at Bakersfield.
Pierce, which has given up 165 points in its past three games, took a 13-12 lead on a one-yard run by reserve quarterback Brad Norris early in the second quarter.
But the Renegades (5-1, 3-1, 1-0), ranked No. 8 in the state, then scored 34 consecutive points.
Bakersfield’s Mark Gray rushed for 217 yards and five touchdowns in 15 carries. He scored on runs of one, 18, 65, 14 and 64 yards.
The Brahmas had three quarterbacks combine for 353 yards passing. Norris completed 12 of 21 for 157 yards and a touchdown.
