HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Verdugo Hills Runs Past Marshall at Finish for a 20-19 Victory

Miguel Nolasco scored on a three-yard run midway through the fourth quarter Saturday to cap a comeback that gave Verdugo Hills a 20-19 Northern Conference victory over Marshall.
Marshall had a chance to take the lead in the final minutes but Michael Orta’s 40-yard field-goal attempt fell short.
Ethan Slimak of Verdugo Hills (3-4, 2-2 in conference play) connected with Alex Trevino on scoring-pass plays of 25 and 60 yards. Trevino finished with five receptions for 135 yards and also made an interception.
Slimak completed 11 of 19 passes for 201 yards and two interceptions, including one that Shaun Farmer returned 79 yards late in the third quarter to give Marshall (2-4-1, 1-3) a 19-6 lead.
Orta gained 110 yards in seven carries, including a 76-yard scoring run.
