PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : NFC : Cunningham Might Try Something New
Randall Cunningham, the benched Philadelphia Eagle quarterback, said Thursday--and Coach Ray Rhodes confirmed--that he might play some in Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams at some position other than quarterback.
Exactly where Cunningham, who lost his starting job to Rodney Peete, would play wasn’t clear.
Asked what his role would be, Cunningham replied, “backup quarterback and specialty player, like Deion Sanders.”

Wide receiver Ricky Sanders re-signed with the Atlanta Falcons after a routine physical examination.
Sanders, 33, had 67 receptions for 599 yards and one touchdown in 14 games last season. He signed with Miami as an unrestricted free agent but was released two weeks ago without appearing in a game.
“It gives us another experienced guy who is familiar with what we do,” Coach June Jones said.
Atlanta waived receiver Darryl Spencer to make room for Sanders.
