Buena 49, Oxnard 20--Josh Cross rushed for 184 yards in 22 carries and scored four touchdowns, and Mario Zaragoz added 108 yards in 21 carries and scored once as the Bulldogs (5-4-1, 4-3) kept their playoff hopes alive in a Channel League game at Ventura High.
With San Marcos’ loss to Dos Pueblos and Ventura’s loss, Buena is in the playoffs as the third-place team.
Cross scored on runs of 30, one and 33 yards in the first half as the Bulldogs took a 28-20 halftime lead. Cross added a scoring run of seven yards in the third quarter to put Buena up, 35-20, and Zaragoza added a touchdown run of three yards in the fourth period.
Glenn Dudley completed 15 of 21 for 155 yards and two touchdown passes for Buena.
T.J. Stafford (six catches, 76 yards) caught scoring passes of 14 and 32 yards from Dudley.
Buena held the Yellowjackets (2-8, 1-6) to 16 yards in the second half.
