SEASON AT A GLANCE: Stunova posted a 40-1 record in sets during the regular season as the Spartans finished third in the Channel League. She defeated Kara Warkentin of San Marcos, runner-up in last season’s Southern Section individual tournament, in league play and again in the league tournament final. Her only set loss was against Pilar Montgomery of Santa Barbara, who Stunova defeated in their first meeting. Ranked No. 4 in the Southern California Tennis Assn.’s 16-and-under age bracket, Stunova had an overall set record of 53-2.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Stunova won the Southern Section individual championship by defeating top-seeded Faye DeVera of Villa Park in the final, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5. Earlier in the week, Stunova won a three-hour match against Sanaz Ghazal of Temecula Valley, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, and defeated Nina Vaughn of Corona del Mar in the semifinals, 6-3, 6-4.
