Buena Runs Winning Streak to 15

The undefeated Buena High girls’ basketball team rolled to its 15th consecutive victory with a 68-24 rout of Ventura in a Channel League game Thursday night at Ventura.

Eboni Conley scored 15 points for the Bulldogs (7-0 in league play). Kori Sebek added 14 points and five steals, and Nicole Greathouse had 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Buena, ranked No. 1 in The Times’ regional poll, opens against Fairfield on Saturday in the Sacramento tournament.

Thousand Oaks 93, Camarillo 39--The Lancers (17-4, 8-0) set a school record with 35 first-quarter points in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks. Jenn Detmer scored 28 points for the Lancers.

Only eight players dressed for the Scorpions (0-8 in league play).

Simi Valley 81, Westlake 37--Senior forward Tawnee Cooper scored 35 points and had 15 rebounds for Simi Valley (18-2, 7-1) in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.

Cooper has scored at least 35 points three times in her career. Cooper, who has signed with UC Santa Barbara, scored 39 against Bishop Amat this season and 40 in a game last season.

Newbury Park 46, Channel Islands 42--Melissa Shoden scored six of her 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Panthers (10-8, 5-3) rallied in a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park. Amy Berman added 17 points and five steals.

Palmdale 48, Quartz Hill 46--The lead changed hands 15 times in a Golden League game at Quartz Hill before Edniesha Curry made a breakaway layup with three minutes to play to give Palmdale (18-3, 5-0) the lead for good.

Monique Nolan scored 14 points for the Falcons, and Margie Knott added 12 points and 15 rebounds. Rebecca Welch scored 20 points for Quartz Hill (11-5, 4-1).

Alemany 61, Notre Dame 53--Kelli Kobayashi had 19 points and six rebounds, and Carly Funicello added 18 points and six rebounds for the Indians (13-5, 5-0) in a Mission League game.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Master’s 88, Christian Heritage 74--Mike Penberthy scored 32 points for the visiting Mustangs (15-4) in a nonconference game. Penberthy hit seven of 12 three-point shots and nine of 10 free throws.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Reseda 1, Monroe 0--Hector Estrada scored to push the Regents past the host Vikings (4-3-1, 2-1) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match.

Grant 2, Sylmar 2--Salvador Santana and Freddie Morales scored for Grant (9-3-2, 4-2-2), and Carlos Cabrera and Jesus Garcia scored for Sylmar (8-1-2, 6-1-1) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Sylmar.

Calabasas 5, Nordhoff 1--David Appel scored three goals for the Coyotes (11-6, 4-1) in a Frontier League match at Calabasas.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Ventura 2, Rio Mesa 0--Roxanne Pena and Courtney Garmon scored for Ventura (11-3-3, 5-1-1) in a Channel League match at Ventura.
