SCC Men, Concordia Women Face Tests

The Southern California College men’s basketball team and the Concordia women’s team face showdowns tonight for first place in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

SCC (15-8, 6-2) hosts Westmont (14-8, 6-2) at 7:30. Azusa Pacific, also 6-2, is at Point Loma Nazarene.

Concordia (18-6, 5-2) hosts Biola (12-9, 5-1) at 5:30 p.m. Fresno Pacific, which is 5-2, is at Cal Baptist.

Cal State Fullerton’s 1995 national baseball championship banner will be unveiled in a ceremony before Friday’s 7 p.m. home opener against Fresno State.

Former players on the 1995 team have been invited for the presentation, and last season’s team captain, D.C. Olsen, will speak on behalf of the team.

The ceremony also will recognize various improvements made on the playing field by the Sports Turf Managers Assn., and construction by the university of new rest rooms and a new temporary press box at the facility.

University President Milton Gordon will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
