Cooper and Simi Valley Celebrate Banner Night

Senior Tawnee Cooper broke Simi Valley High’s single-season scoring record with a season-high 39 points as the Pioneers clinched a share of first place in the Marmonte League with a 93-45 victory Thursday night over Royal (13-12, 7-7) at Simi Valley.

Cooper has 700 this season, bettering Cheri Graham’s mark of 692, set in the 1979-80 season.

Jamie Griffin added 16 points for Simi Valley (24-2, 13-1).

Thousand Oaks 63, Newbury Park 42--Jenn Detmer scored 20 points, and Nicky LaSala and Courtney Miller each added 14 points for the Lancers (22-5, 13-1) in a Marmonte League game.

Melissa Showden scored 15 for the Panthers (13-7, 9-5).

Buena 64, Ventura 26--Nicole Greathouse had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the host Bulldogs (23-1, 14-0) in a Channel League game.

Christie Erickson and Stephanie Kinnear each added 12 points for Buena, which has won 19 Channel League championships in the last 20 years.

Oxnard 62, Santa Barbara 47--Donya Walker scored 15 points for the Yellowjackets (17-7, 11-3), who clinched second place in the Channel League.

Alemany 66, Notre Dame 60--Carly Funicello had 26 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals for Alemany (18-7, 10-0), which lost a 22-point third-quarter lead before winning in overtime in a Mission League game.

Notre Dame’s Stacey Phillips hit the first three-point basket of her career to force overtime. She finished with 17 points.

Louisville 87, Flintridge Sacred Heart 47--Rosie Chingcuangco had 17 points and seven steals for the Royals (15-7, 7-3) in a Mission League game. Kari Crawley scored 17 points, and Adriane Black added 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Danielle Dalponte scored 15 points for Flintridge.

Harvard-Westlake 66, Chaminade 32--Corie Roberts scored 11 points off the bench, and Kerry Davidoff added 10 points for the Wolverines (16-8, 4-6) in a Mission League game.

Bell-Jeff 61, St. Anthony 35--Cheryl Flores had 15 points and six assists for the Guards (20-5, 6-2) in a Camino Real League game.

Fillmore 67, Oak Park 44--Christie Rosenblad had 25 points, and Julie Arundell added 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Flashes (21-3, 10-0) wrapped up an undefeated Tri-Valley League season.

April Kozar had 12 points and 22 rebounds for Fillmore, which set a school record for victories.

St. Bonaventure 55, Bishop Diego 35--Amber Davis scored 19 points and Alisa Doran added 18 for the Seraphs (8-15, 4-6) in a Tri-Valley League game.
