DIVISION I-A

University (15-10) at Capistrano Valley (16-9), 7:30 p.m.

Two teams that had lofty expectations at the beginning of the season get a chance to eliminate each other for the right to play second-seeded Buena. University is led by Monique Mathews (15 points, 11.2 rebounds); Capistrano Valley is led by Natasha Combs (14.4 points, 6.5 assists) and Jenny Jennings (14.4 points, 8.5 rebounds).

Other first-round games:

Montclair (14-10) at Westminster (21-4), 7:30 p.m.

Pasadena (18-8) vs. Edison (19-7), Huntington Beach HS, 7:30 p.m.

Downey (16-6) at Century (21-3), 7:30 p.m.

Irvine (14-10) at Marina (21-4), 7:30 p.m.

Huntington Beach (11-14) at Chino (21-4), 7:30 p.m.

DIVISION II-AA

Trabuco Hills (11-13) at Foothill (17-7), 7:30 p.m.

Foothill, which finished second in the Century League, makes its first playoff appearance since 1989. Trabuco Hills, a longshot to be here in a rebuilding year, should have made the playoffs last season but didn’t because of an administrative error; the Mustangs, led by Sarah Warnick (18.7 points), are in this time despite a 2-8 record in the South Coast League.

Other first-round games:

San Clemente (15-11) at Yucaipa (11-8), 7:30 p.m.

Santa Margarita (11-14) at Villa Park (15-9), 7:30 p.m.

Loara (13-9) at Burbank Burroughs (16-9), 7:30 p.m.

Canyon (13-12) at Pomona Garey (15-10), 7:30 p.m.

Cypress (11-14) at Norco (19-5), 7:30 p.m.

DIVISION II-A

Valencia (11-13) at El Dorado (17-5), 7:30 p.m.

Valencia upset Magnolia in the season’s final week, then beat Western in a playoff--one day after losing to the Pioneers--to qualify as the Orange League’s third-place team. El Dorado is coming off an emotional victory over Century to win a share of the Empire League title. The Golden Hawks have reached at least the quarterfinals the last four years.

Other first-round games:

Katella (11-13) at La Puente (20-2), 7:30 p.m.

Tustin (12-14) at Perris (21-2), 7:30 p.m.

Covina Westlake (11-12) at Troy (17-6), 7:30 p.m.

DIVISION III-AA

Torrance Bishop Montgomery (9-17) at Magnolia (15-9), 7:30 p.m.

Magnolia drew the short straw at the pairings meeting. Bishop Montgomery is in a wild-card game only because it forfeited 12 victories; otherwise the Knights would be seeded. The Sentinels will need a big game from Andrea Picchi (21.3 points, 12.2 rebounds) and Amber Pickett (39.7% from the three-point arc) to get into the first round.

Other wild-card games:

Bolsa Grande (11-11) at Norwalk Glenn (15-9), 7:30 p.m.

Newbury Park (15-9) at Newport Harbor (14-11), 7:30 p.m.

Redondo Union (13-9) at La Habra (9-12), 7:30 p.m.

DIVISION V-A

Heritage Christian (8-12) at Liberty Christian (15-9), 7:30 p.m.

These teams are playing a wild-card game to get into the first round, where the winner plays third-seeded Pico Rivera Mesrobian. Heritage, which has struggled in the fourth quarter, is led by Bekah Ramirez (15.7 points, 9.2 rebounds). Liberty Christian relies heavily on Lynlee Vaccaro (12.1 points).
