Juan Roman of Channel Islands High, Southern Section Division II wrestling champion at 112 pounds, will not compete in Saturday’s Masters Meet at Fountain Valley High because of torn ligaments in his left knee.
Roman, a senior and three-time Marmonte League champion, was injured during last weekend’s section finals.
One of 21 Ventura County wrestlers to qualify for the Masters Meet, Roman finished 39-2 this season and 121-20 for his career.
The top eight wrestlers in 14 weight classes at Fountain Valley will advance to next week’s State finals in Stockton.

Brignac averaged 17.7 points for the Cavaliers, who won the Northwest Valley Conference championship.
Joseph averaged 24.9 points for the Chancellors, who finished second.
