O’Bric Helps Edison Extend League Streak

Senior Kerry O’Bric won four individual events to help Edison to a 98-37 victory over Los Alamitos in a Sunset League girls’ track and field meet Thursday at Los Alamitos.

O’Bric won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 47.9 seconds, which is the best time in Orange County this year. She won the shotput (39 feet 4 1/2 inches) and triple jump (38-9) and each mark was second best in this county this year.

She also won the long jump (17-1) as Edison won its 55th consecutive league meet.

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 101, Sonora 26--Sunny Hills sophomore Erin Sauchelli ran a school-record 26.6 in the 200.

In the Golden West League:

Tustin 74 1/2, Westminster 52 1/2--Shamieka Perkins won 100 hurdles (18.3), long jump (14-9 1/2), triple jump (32-8 1/2), and ran on the winning 400 relay team for visiting Tustin (1-1, 1-0).

In the Orange League:

Brea Olinda 113, Valencia 19--Mika Nelson won three individual events and was on the winning 400 relay team for host Brea Olinda. Nelson won the 100 (12.7), the 200 (26.6) and the long jump (15-11 1/2).

In Garden Grove League boys’ track:

Garden Grove 108, Pacifica 19--Senior Kevin Griswald won the 100 meters in a county-leading 10.6 seconds and won the 220 yards (22.8). Griswald was also on the winning 440 relay team with senior Brian Jones, who won the 440-yard dash in 52.7.

In Sea View League:

Woodbridge 70, Corona del Mar 66--David Allen set a school record in the pole vault, clearing 14 feet for host Woodbridge. William Stovall won the 100 and 200 meters and was on the winning 400 relay team.
