CSUN Sets Mark With 45th Win
Cal State Northridge set a school Division I baseball record with its 45th victory, defeating Sacramento, 4-2, Sunday in a regular-season finale at Matador Field.
Five pitchers combined to shut down the Hornets (10-43, 3-27 in WAC play). Gary Stephenson, Benny Flores (5-2), Jason Cole and Nathan Rice each pitched two innings and Andrew Settle pitched the ninth.
Adam Kennedy and Robert Fick each had two hits and one run batted in. Matt Anderson and Jose Miranda also drove in runs.
Northridge (45-14, 21-9) is one victory short of the overall school record set in 1984 when the Matadors won the Division II national championship.
